Overview
Experience the rich culture of Azeri ethnic in Northwestern Iran, who are possibly the descendant of Medes. It is a wonderful trip to visit a variety of ethnics with various cultures and different languages and dialects in the path of Silk Road. We will travel through different provinces: Zanjan, East Azerbaijan and Ardabil which all are Azeri part. The trip will start from Tehran traveling towards Qazvin, Zanjan, Khalkhal, Ardabil, Tabriz, Jolfa and Kandovan. We will visit many historical monuments and sites such as Chele Sotoun palace, house of Aminis, Dome of Soltaniyeh, Azerbaijan Museum, Tabriz Bazaar, the Blue Mosque, the Constitutional house and the Church of Saint Stephanos. You will also enjoy tasting different traditional meals and cuisines.
Brief Itinerary
Day 1: pick up from your hotel in Tehran morning time, driving to the city of Zanjan. En route, visiting some most important attractions in Qazvin. Late afternoon check in the hotel. (L, D)
Day 2: Explore the exotic rural areas of Khalkhal mountainous villages. Have lunch with locals in their houses and go walking around the mountains. Overnight stay at a local house. (B, L, D)
Day 3: Travel to Ardabil visiting Sheikh Safi-Ad-Din (the great Sufi) mausoleum. In the afternoon continue to Shourabil Lake for photographing. Then drive to Sarein with numerous hot mineral springs for spa. Overnight stay at a local house. (B, L)
Day 4: Drive to Tabriz city. We’ll take a full day tour around the city, visiting Azerbaijan Museum, Tabriz Bazaar, the Blue Mosque and the Constitutional house. (B)
Day 5: Travel to the historical border city of Jolfa which is located near the Aras River and the fascinating forests of Arasbaran. Visit the Church of Saint Stephanos. Afternoon, drive to Kandovan; overnight stay at guest house. (B, D)
Day 6: Drive about 60 Km away to Kandovan Village– a living example of human adaptation to exceptionally unusual natural surroundings. In the afternoon, we will drive to Tabriz, overnight train to Tehran. (B, L)
