Extra Information

This trip can be done in all seasons, but the best time would be from early April to mid-July.

Those individuals who would like to hike the summit in the winter, they should make sure they have proper gear and warm clothing and goggles. Having poles are very useful in this trip.


Overview

An amazing trip you will ascend and visit two most important and highest mountains in Iran. First, you will go to north of Iran in the heart of West Alborz Mountain ranges and visit Alam kuh mountain which is also known as Alps of Iran. There are more than 40 summits above 4000 m in this part. You will ascend Lashgarak summit first for acclimatization and adapting with the region and then will reach Alam kuh mountain 4850 m. Alam kuh is the second highest summit which has also Iran’s most important and granite big wall in the north.
In second part of this trip you will ascend Damavand mount 5609 m. The highest and most beautiful mountain in Iran.

This trip would be a great opportunity for photographing and getting a taste of Iran nature and mountains for adventure lovers.

Brief Itinerary

Day 1:  Afternoon at 14:00 leaving Tehran towards Vandarbon hut (7 hours). Overnight stay in Vandarbon hut. (D)

Day 2: Transfer to Tang-e galoo (the start point of trekking) by a 4×4 car and ascend to Hesarchal. Set up the camp, acclimatizing and back to the camp. Overnight stay in the camp. (B, L, D)

Day 3: Ascending Lashgarak mountain 4350 m and back to the camp. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Ascending Alam kuh mountain 4850 m. Then start to descent, breaking the camp and back to Tang-e galoo. Transfer to Vandarbon. Overnight stay in Vandarbon hut. (B, L, D)

Day 5: Driving to Rine (base camp of Damavand), having a hot spiring pool and overnight stay at Reineh climing camp. (B, L, D)

Day 6: Transport to mosque (Goosfandsara) and start trekking to 1st camp (4250m). Overnight staying at the camp/hut (B, L, D)

Day 7: Ascending to Damavand summit 5609 m and descend to the camp. Overnight stay at the camp/hut. (B, L, D)

Day 8: Breaking the camp and descend to mosque (Goosfandsara). Transfer to Rine by a 4×4 car, shift the car and drive back to Tehran to your hotel. (B, L)

    The ideal time begins from middle of Jun till middle of September. During this period you can have most chance to reach the summit.

 

  1. Is it possible to attempt ascending Damavand mount out of best season?
    It’s possible to ascend Damavand in all the seasons otherwise high physical fitness and having professional equipment and proper clothes are strongly recommended and more over all hikers need to be experienced mountaineering in winter.

    According to your request, we can plan and operate Damavand ascendant tours during all the year but you must know there are high average of snowfall in cold season, the weather condition is more unstable and the type of vehicle and transportation will be changed.
  1. What are the best routes to ascend Damavand mount?
    Damavand mountain is a stratovolcano and a cone shaped, so there are sixteen known ridges everyone has possibility to ascend and between them there are four main route more likely to ascend because of facilities and having hut or shelter there (southern ridge, north ridge, north east and west ridge). And the most suitable rout is southern rout you start hiking from 2900 m and there is a good path all the way without any challenge. Supporting mules to carry stuffs and also there is an equipped hut in 4250mt with good camping place, lavatory service, a small shop and drinking water.
  1. Does Zino Expedition operates ascending mount Damavand tour from other routes rather than the main ones?
    we are ready to plan and operate ascending mount Damavand from different routes according to your request. It will be a tailor made and the price should be calculated accordingly.
  1. How hard is ascending mount Damavand? How much physical ability is necessary to make it ?
    During the best season,  we will ascend in four days and you have enough time to be adapted and acclimatize and you will carry just a light backpack during hiking, so you won’t feel much pressure on yourself. The summit day is the most important part which we will hike towards the top for 6 -7 hours and 3- 4 hours to descend to the camp. However, the passengers whose fitness level is moderate will have a good chance to reach the summit.
  1. How is it possible to have a good acclimatization for ascending mount Damavand?
    Damavand tours are planned for 4 days and more, so getting acclimatized and adapt with the altitude is not far to achieve. In such a plan you will touch higher altitude step by step every day, then you have enough chance to adapt yourself. Mostly people whom are living in the sea level need acclimatization for summit day. Lots of previous successful trips are the proof for this idea. however, you can ascend a high mountain right before Damavand for a better acclimatization.   1. Is it possible to ascend Damavand with only one PAX?
    yes, it is possible. Please be informed that the price is based on 2 PAX/ sharing. If you like to have this trip alone you need to send us your request and we will quote you the best price.
  1. Is it possible to have access to potable water during the trip?
    We will supply your required drinking water during all the trip. Also there is a small shop in the hut in southern route which you can buy extra water. There is no water spring on the way and we have to carry the required water between the camps. In the camp there is a water spring which is not suitable to drink and we just use it for washing.
  1. How much does the backpack weigh during hiking ?
    We will hike with a light backpacks maximum 6kg and the main stuff will be carried by mules (maximum 15 kg per person).
  1. What equipment and services are included?
    Zino Expedition will provide you transportation, accommodation in the tent/hut, professional mountain guide, Damavand permit, cooking utensils and all meals, water and first aid kit.
  1. What personal necessary equipment are required for this trip?
    Sleeping bag (comfort -2 in best season), mattress, headlamp, light backpack, poles
  1. What kind of shoes is suitable for hiking?
    Your boot is one of the most important factors. A good boot should have ankle support with breathable and water resistance layer. During best season trekking and hiking boots are ideal.
  1. Is it necessary to have technical equipment like helmet, rope, belaying device, ice axe or crampon?
    In best season you don’t need any of these equipment.
  1. Is it probable a tour get cancel by Zino Expedition after booking?
    After first booking, you can make sure the trip will be performed.
  1. what is the type of accommodation?
    The hut has a big public hall and 4 private rooms. During best season if we can reserve a private room in the hut, we will have our overnight stay there considering its always too much busy and noisy we will mostly set up our tents to be more comfortable.
